To be honest I can’t remember how I found this site, but it’s a fun one to browse around and check out the archives. The writer lives in Ontario Canada and somehow manages to get out most weekends and then blog about cottage life, food, fun and of course, his weekend.

Australia Renovation Blogs


I did a search tonight for Australia Renovation Blogs and was quite disappointed that I couldn’t find many that were actually being written by home renovators. Most of the sites that I found were from companies that did renovations, or from professional web-sites.

I had a look over at www.houseblogs.net and managed to find a few in Australia, and those led me then to a few others. So tonight I subscribed to six new sites in my RSS reader. I’m really curious to see what sorts of experiences these guys are having with their renovation and building projects.

Re-Designing Our Deck


At the moment I am having to redesign the plan for our deck at the back of our house.

When our first dodgy builders got our deck plans drawn up by an architect they neglected to tell the architect that we already had our old decking materials from our old house. Because the architect didn’t know this fairly major bit of information he didn’t take an of our existing materials into account when he drew up the plans for our new deck design.

When I first noticed the different I didn’t think too much about this because I figured we could make it work. The problem though is that the old deck was built using steel for most of the structural stuff and the new deck was designed all in timber.

Choosing our New Bathroom Vanity and Basin


Part of the fun of our bathroom renovation was choosing a new vanity and basin. It was quite the experience again because like with our bathroom wall and floor tiles we only had an hour or so do it, it had to come from one store and it had to be in stock.

Again Tamara and I surprised ourselves by being able to choose our vanity and sink quickly and in full agreement. Here it is, sort of…
